Dreams of the Perfect Theme

Ahhh yes, the dream wedding:

color coordinated to perfection, a sophisticated and warm ambiance, the ideal theme for the season and couple. Waaaait a second, that’s a lot to plan. Between wrangling your bridal party, getting the dress, choosing a cake, DJ, caterer, officiant, oh and let’s add planning an entirely synchronized theme to the mix, it’s not as easy as just pairing candlesticks with table cloths.

Narrow It down

Your favorite color is the rainbow? We’re right there with you! Unless you’re going for a unicorn themed wedding (which sounds kinda fun, right?) narrow down your color scheme choices to a maximum of 2 aside from metallic accents or black and white. We loved the rich blue paired with white and black at this stunning wedding held at the New Britain Museum of American Art this past year. The gold geometric accents added a fresh dimension to the table and tied in the chairs and other decor of the venue.

Keep It Simple

There is nothing wrong with simplicity. When all else fails, keeping centerpieces, decor and color choices clean and simple will guarantee your wedding looks flawless. Especially when your venue already exudes a theme of it’s own! This is also great advice for a budget, be inspired by elements of your relationship! Photographs, trinkets, and handwritten signs are personal touches that cost nothing!

Get Creative!

Don’t be afraid to step outside the box and get creative with your decor! Centerpieces and accents can all be found at home decor stores and even flea markets! One of our 2016 weddings was held at My Little Ladies Farm & Design Co and basically did the design work for us! This beautiful farm and barn setting nurtured an amazing vintage theme that let our imaginations run wild. By incorporating license plates, old bottles, and simple floral arrangements (by Leah Demo, above & below) your theme will evoke a feeling of rustic comfort.

Get a second opinion. I’ve heard some.. interesting ideas. While no idea is bad, having a planner to bounce ideas off of and seek guidance when you’re not sure what direction to go in can save you from having a “Pinterest Fail” wedding. Throwing in too many elements or incorporating too many colors can get cluttered. We can narrow down your ideas and create the ethereal vision while saving your budget and your sanity!

Until next time, Happy Planning!
